They call him 'Mr. Lakewood' and he's celebrating his 50th with a Woodrow fundraiser

When you think of Woodrow Wilson High School, you probably think of Davey O'Brien and Tim Brown, Heisman Trophy winners. And you probably think of the oustanding musicals staged there every spring. And if you've lived in the neighborhood for awhile, you probably think of Kyle Rains, who eats, drinks and breathes Woodrow. You might even remember that for the first 10 years or so that we published the Advocate, Kyle wrote a monthly column all about Woodrow and its alums. Well, Kyle (right, pictured as a 1976 high school grad) is combining his 50th birthday party with a fundraiser to benefit the Gustavo Inpina Scholarship fund at Woodrow Saturday, March 15, at the Wine Therapist — which also happens to be the spot where Kyle was once a manager with the Merrill Lynch Realty Lakewood branch in the '80s. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the party is scheduled to run until 1 a.m. Bring your Woodrow gear...
