YMCA Healthy Kids Day is tomorrow at the White Rock YMCA. What is Healthy Kids Day you ask? It’s a fun-filled day of activities designed to promote family health of spirit, mind and body.
Here’s a list of activities, freebies and the like that are offered tomorrow at White Rock YMCA, 7305 Gaston, courtesy of Gina Paul the office manager.
• Each family (as supplies last) will have the opportunity to pick up a Healthy Family Home packet. This packet provides families with the tools and support they need to improve the health of their home environment through more nutritious eating habits, physical activity and family time. Healthy Family Home will offer a wide variety of simple, practical, fun suggestions that can be used by any family in any community to establish and maintain healthier habits at home.
• Sports challenges – soccer and basketball challenges
• Fitness screening – timed shuttle run, sit and reach and a 1- mile walk test
• Family fitness activities – hoola hoop, jump rope and parent/child yoga demonstration
• Gymnastic demonstrations and activities
• Vendors – educational vendors for children such as dentist and other community representatives
• Healthy food, Bounce house, face painting and other fun activities
• Introduction to all of the YMCA’s summer programs (camps and aquatics) and open registration for all
