Lakewood Elementary School choir takes the first-place trophy

Chior_wins_011 I simply had to share this photo, sent by neighbor Rosalyn Costanzo. (Click on it to see a larger version.)

What happened in the photo came after yesterday's Sandy Lake Park State Choir Competition, where the 100-student strong Lakewood Elementary choir performed. The students had to head home before the results of the competition were announced, but one of the parents stayed behind to hear Lakewood named as the first-place winner.

That parent drove straight to the school, first-place trophy in hand, and the students' reaction is what you see in the photo. I'm assuming the man holding the trophy and making the "We're No. 1" gesture is Wilson Tate, Lakewood's music teacher and choir director. Costanzo described the moment as one of "pure jubilation."
