I can think of a half dozen big firms that left the core CBD for new digs in Victory Park, leaving blocks of vacant space in the downtown area.

Downtown is being hurt by Victory Park, not helped.

The downtown vacancy and rental rate prospects for Class B office builidngs is the worst it has been in decades. With the on-coming recession downtown dynamics will worsen.

Wasting $550 million on a new hotel in a BAD location doesn't make any sense at all. Unless there is a plan and the $ to fix the "location," it's another waste of money.

Victory Park never built enough residential to justify the retail or begin to create a neighborhood. So, as retailers close, it's really becoming a ghost town - ahhh, just like downtown.
