I don't think he wore a wetsuit or probably even media-flashy raingear, but our intrepid shooter Can Turkyilmaz did venture out to the White Rock Spillway this morning specifically to get a blog photo. By the way, the flood warning has now been updated to extend through Monday morning. From weather.com: AT 1000 AM THURSDAY THE STAGE WAS 39.95 FEET * MODERATE FLOODING IS OCCURRING AND MODERATE FLOODING IS FORECAST. ... THE RIVER WILL CONTINUE TO RECEDE AND FALL BELOW FLOOD STAGE BY SUNDAY EVENING. * AT 40 FEET MAJOR FLOODING WILL OCCUR IN DALLAS ALONG THE RIVER. So, yeah, we're pretty damn close to major flooding. But then if we weren't, I guess Sam Champion wouldn't be here. And my Weather Channel-addicted father in Phoenix would quit calling me to see if I'm treading water yet. (Love ya dad!)
Anyone remember the old days when people actually went out on the spillway for kicks?
Well, not in that kind of flow, but it could be pretty dangerous.
