Apparently, after what has been a month-long moratorium (which those of us who follow Belo assume was imposed by the bosses), the metro columnists and their blogging colleagues at Dallas' Only Daily Newspaper are once again hopping on the anti-referendum bandwagon. I especially enjoyed this one -- battle for souls, indeed -- and this one. Consult with the council? If Mayor Park Cities isn't careful, he won't have any support on the council by the time this thing comes to a vote.
I enjoyed the first one tremendously. Ragland is right, Mayor Park Cities is in for the fight of his young mayoral life. Perhaps Mayor Park Cities will realize that he is facing an uphill battle since more people signed this petition than voted for him or Oakley during the election. Try selling the voters on how a toll road they will probably never use and didn't vote for will benefit them at the expense of the wonderful park most people voted for in 1998. Tough sell indeed. I can't wait for the barrage of Belo BS that flows out of downtown in opposition of the vote. It is nice to watch Belo squirm for a change.
