Batten down the hatches, get armed, and be cautious. The crime rate in Lakewood area is only going to get worse, before it gets better.

One precurser to increased crime is the level of graffiti which has been noticiably greater in our neighborhood. All along neighborhood streets signs of graffiti are evident. It is a maxim that first comes the graffiti then broken windows, then violent crime. Combined with illegal immigration, a recession, over-worked police, and a city hall that that refuses to recognize the problems, leaves the citizens to themselves for protection.

Slow down there grandpa

Robert... dude... take a deeeeeeeeeeeeep breath.
Confucius say, man who fall in vat of molten glass, make spectacle of self. Ditto on your over-the-top prognostications.

Take away the "you kids get off my lawn" looniness, and Robert has a point or two. Who can deny that the cops are overworked and that City Hall is more interested in partying at the Perots' than in doing much for neighborhoods.

Name calling adds nothing to the debate. Based on your entries (Alex and Bill Kennedy) I have no idea what you think of the problem, much less what you think the solutions are. Maybe you don't even think crime is a problem. Can't tell by your attacks.

Follow the crime statisitcs going forward. It is inevitable that crime will increase in Lakewood over the next 12 to 18 months. With respect to graffiti as a percursor, that is not my thinking. Guliani calls it the "broken window" syndrom - he should know, he cleaned up a mess in NYC.

McKinney had a triple murder and a Realtor was stabbed to death in a new open house -- where are you going?

I don't think any true East Dallasite would ever give up on this area. I've been here almost 50 years and the few little problems I have had, I can overlook. Love means never having to say you're sorry!

OK, fellows, everyone knows the rules here. We respect everyone's opinions, even if we disagree. Let's keep this a civil discussion.

Robert

Who is talking about giving up?
