I'm an admitted true-crime TV junkie. It was probably close to a year ago when I saw a story on the A&E show "First 48" about a woman whose body was found in White Rock Lake (watch episode 68 here). Two drug dealers allegedly killed 30-year-old Lavelle Evans and dumped the body, supposedly because she had been set to testify against them in court. Said dealers are already in jail on a drug possession conviction —and they go to trail today on the murder charges.
Thanks for the follow-up on this very interesting story. I'm very interested in this kind of crime story, and I remember hearing about it the day they found the body and going out to get an idea of the area where she was found, just near the east landing of the then brand-new walking bridge near Mockingbird. I later saw the episode of First48, and it was a story with some intriguing twists. The Arkansas victim was eventually identified by them going on the internet and looking for anyone who knew her through the text on her t-shirt, which was just some public race or sport, if I recall. It was really amazing they were able to track down her identity in that way. Great police work.
